Introduction

The Doi family’s burial ground is within the precincts of Joganji Temple, the family temple of the Doi clan that was built where their private Buddha statue hall used to stand. There is a hokyoin-to (stone pagoda) and dozens of many-tiered towers lined up. They are designated as an important historic site in Kanagawa Prefecture, as they are prominent in the Kanto district, and were constructed in many different time periods and in various forms.
