Introduction
This hall serves as a memorial of Mamoru Shigemitsu, the former foreign minister who, acting as the Japanese government’s representative, signed the Japanese Instrument of Surrender aboard the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945, effectively bringing an end to World War II. The exhibits outline his footsteps as a diplomat and politician, using photographs, video, and other materials.
