Introduction
Originally, this ceramic image of the Buddha was enshrined in Nagoya Castle, but after World War II it was dedicated to Fukusenji Temple. It is said that Mitsutomo Tokugawa, the lord of Nagoya Castle, had this statue built to mourn his deceased mother. When it was in Nagoya, the statue was complete, including everything from the chest down, but now where has the body gone? Its whereabouts remain a mystery today.
